Topic Area 1
Gender and Generations

Kathy spent 8 years earlier in her career working in Equal Opportunity, leading workplace changes for equity outcomes. She later went on to become a very senior manager in ANZ and CCA when women were scarce at that level. As a line manager she built a diverse workplace which was very parent friendly. Kathy is a Baby Boomer, married to an X with a Gen Y daughter and son. Presentations have included:

Did Equal Opportunity work and what are the current gender issues ?
Latest demographics and trends with emphasis on gender implications for the workplace and the wider community . Incorporates changing attitudes to marriage, parenting, job mobility, and redefining "success". Incorporates the Generation X and Y phenomenon .

Why Xs are grumpy; Boomers think they're cool and Ys resent them both.
An overview of the abundant research on Generation Y, X, Baby Boomers and Veterans from the female boomer's perspective. How this impacts on marketing, employment - tailored to the interests of the groups. A light hearted yet highly informative session that calls for some radical changes to the way we educate, employ, engage and sell to people.

Topic Area 2
Learning and Organisational Development

Kathy has been an educator throughout her entire career. She is a qualified teacher with a Masters Degree in Education. After several years as a High School teacher, she worked as a counselor to trainee teachers at Sydney University. She then went on to work in corporate education and staff development and eventually became the Global Head of Learning and Development for ANZ and Coca-Cola Amatil spanning fifteen years. She has managed many millions of dollars, large networks of staff and worked across countries in Europe and Asia Pacific. She has developed many initiatives for talent capture and development.

Recent presentations have included:

The Swans and Skunks of Learning and Development
Covers how to embed learning and development in organizations and what are the best and worst practices in regard to learning itself. The Swans are examples of best and the Skunks are the worst. One skunk that gets special attention is the overuse of data projectors.

Selling HR to the Board
Tailored for an HR audience, this is an irreverent moment of reflection for the HR community as to why this is still a topic at conferences at all. It covers lack of consistent identity across the function, poor perception of HR by other functions, pressures on HR and what can be done to improve the image.

High Fliers - why so many young stars implode their careers
Especially interesting to emerging leaders and middle managers or those responsible for their development, it covers the often difficult transition from operational manager or specialist to strategic senior manager. Explores the different competencies required for the transition and gives many examples of able leaders who couldn't make the adjustment to more senior (or just plain different) roles. Uses military and corporate examples for added interest.
